The Hamlet La Jaurie

La Jaurie is placed on an crossroad of ancient ways. In the Gaelic time, long before the Romans came, there were already two roads passing diagonal through France the crossroad was here at La Jaurie. The actual farm and the gite were with stones coming from the old castle of Courbéfy that was taken down around 1680. This castle was built on top of the hill right behind La Jaurie around the year 800. It had a fortifying function for the city of Limoges. There are many rumors that there are still old tunnels going from this castle, passing under La Jaurie, going towards other castles in the neighborhood. You see, it is a place rich on history.
